Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.
We are now hiring a Director of Children's Services in Feasterville-Trevose to provide person-centered care tailored to meet the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Director of Children’s Services maintains a high-quality program to support children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This person is responsible for the administration and management of the home(s), including the safety and protection of children, implementing policies 
and procedures and ensuring compliance with state regulations. 
Responsibilities
  • Lead and train teams to support programmatic initiatives, goals, daily routines, and the unique 
    needs of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Manage team performance through effective communication, training, performance 
    management, staff meetings, and employee recognition
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in 
    efficiency of department and services performed
  • Develop current and new children services including residential supports, personalized 
    supports, and person-centered planning
  • Maintain a high-quality program per state regulations for adult and children services
  • Coordinate educational services for children and teenagers in our care
  • Monitor and maintain program budgets
  • Prepare required statistical, financial, and service reports as needed
  • Develop and update Individual Support Plans (ISP)/Person-Centered Plans (PCP) with an 
    interdisciplinary team to include any concerns, observations, and behavioral developments
  • Ensure individuals are supported per their ISP/PCP including medication management, meal 
    planning, and behavior management
  • Ensure program documentation and billable records are completed accurately and timely
  • Monitor the finances of individuals ensuring purchases are approved and accounted for with 
    documentation
  • Monitor the health and medical needs of individuals and immediately report any concerns
  • Manage relationships with the families and guardians of the children and teenagers in our care
  • Ensure work locations and vehicles are well maintained
  • May be required to be available at all times either onsite or by phone
  • May conduct programmatic investigations
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
  • Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or 
    investigation
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, 
    central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university and two years’ work experience in 
    administration or human services; or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and four
    years of work experience in administration or human services
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines
  • Team-oriented with demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities
  • Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving 
    supports
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills

Working Conditions 

  • May be required to be on-call in cooperation with other management staff
  • Frequent lifting, stretching, and other physical exertion may be required
  • May be required to transport individuals utilizing own vehicle or company provided vehicles
  • May be required to lift or move 25+ pounds
  • May assist with wheelchair transfer of non-ambulatory individuals
  • May be exposed to various medical conditions and communicable diseases
