Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.
We are seeking a highly skilled State Director in Council Bluffs, IA. The State Director is responsible for the overall operations of assigned regions. This executive leadership role provides guidance to the Executive Director(s) and management, focusing on the continued development and expansion of services. This includes the management of executive leadership, program development, fiscal oversight, quality assurance, contract compliance, and any applicable matters of accreditation. This person is responsible for meeting the corporate goals and maintaining person-centered and inclusive programs that align with the philosophy and mission of Community Options. This position can be based out of Council Bluffs or Des Moines

Responsibilities
• Responsible for daily operations and compliance with state licensing and reporting standards
• Strive to meet corporate goals pertaining to growth, licensure, financial oversight, and capacity
• Assist with contract compliance and matters of accreditation as required by various government regulations
• Oversee the formulation of local advisory boards which assist in developing and expanding resources, thereby improving service delivery
• Provide fiscal oversight for assigned territory, develop and manage the budget, and make sound financial decisions in accordance with company policies
• Develop long and short-term goals for the region and works with managers to achieve goals
• Supervise, evaluate, and provide support to Executive Directors and supporting managers
• Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to promote continuous improvement
• Recommend sound personnel practices in employee recruitment, compensation, performance 
management, and advise management staff on same
• Present a clear picture of issues related to their regional operations to their manager, outlining 
possible solutions and challenges
• Identify and recommend appropriate grant and funding opportunities
• Promote fundraising activities that will effectively promote the needs of the organization and 
increase funding base
• Promote and maintain a positive public image of Community Options
• Prepare required statistical, financial and service reports as needed
• Interface with local, state and governmental agencies
• Employees must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or
investigation

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in related field preferred
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in administrative and supervisory roles
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
• Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines
• Understanding and commitment to community-based support for persons with disabilities
• Understanding of organizational dynamics. Team oriented with demonstrated leadership  experience
• Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities
• Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
• Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent time management skills Working Conditions
• Frequent travel throughout assigned region is required
• Occasional lifting, stretching and other physical exertion may be required
• Occasional transportation of individuals with disabilities may be required
• May be required to be on-call in cooperation with other management staff
• May be exposed to various medical conditions and communicable diseases
