We are now hiring Full-TimeRegistered Behavior Technicians supporting Bergen County, NJ. The Registered Behavior Technician provides behavior support as part of a team that assists children and youth and their families through crises to success. The Behavioral Technician uses best practices and technology within a home and community-based setting to teach individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities how to acquire the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social skills needed to live as independently as possible. The Behavior Technician provides instructional sessions with the participant’s support network regarding the recommendations, strategies, and next steps identified in the Behavior Plan.
Responsibilities
Provide instructions in activities of daily living based on individual needs and ongoing assessment; frequency and duration may decrease over time or vary throughout the length of stay
Implement all activities included in the youth’s individualized behavioral support plan
Provide individual support, such as positive behavioral supports
Provide training/coaching for youth/parents
Provide training/coaching for the youth to meet the individual’s behavioral needs
Provide modeling for families, as needed
Support community integration via focused recreational activities
Attend treatment team meetings
Minimum Requirements
Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports
Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, special education, guidance and counseling, social work or a related field; and at least one year of supervised experience in implementing behavior support plans for youth who have intellectual/developmental disabilities; OR
High school diploma, or GED; and at least three years of supervised experience in implementing behavior support plans for youth who have intellectual/developmental disabilities
Working Conditions
Required to work on a rotating coverage schedule, including on weekends
May be exposed to various medical conditions and communicable diseases
